Quantitative relationships between river and channel-belt planform patterns

چکیده

Abstract Channel planform patterns arise from internal dynamics of sediment transport and fluid flow in rivers are affected by external controls such as valley confinement. Understanding whether these channel preserved the rock record has critical implications for our ability to constrain past environmental conditions. Rivers belts, which one most ubiquitous accessible parts sedimentary record, yet relationship between river channel-belt remains unquantified. We analyzed belts 30 systems globally. were classified using a graph theory-based metric, Entropic Braided Index (eBI), quantifies number channels considering partitioning water discharge. find that, after normalizing size, width wavelength, amplitude, curvature belt edges decrease with increasing (eBI). Active single-channel occupies little 1% belt, while multichannel it can occupy >50% belt. Moreover, we that lie along continuum numbers. Our findings have studies on floodplain interaction, storage timescales sediment, paleoenvironmental reconstruction.

Planform channel dynamics of the lower Colorado River: 1976–2000

In the past two decades, major flood events have occurred on the lower Colorado River, a dramatic shift from the low flows and moderate floods associated with prior decades of river regulation. This study uses repeat aerial photography and Geographic Information System analysis to examine the planform channel response of the upper Colorado River delta (limitrophe reach) to this recently altered...

Quantitative relationships between ryanoids, receptor affinity and channel conductance.

The review examines the relationship between the structure of several ryanodine analogs and (A) binding, (B) channel conductance, and (C) ligand binding kinetics. Comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity analysis (CoMSIA) are used to quantitatively assign structural correlations. Hydrogen bond donating (but not accepting) ability was found to be highly c...

Relationships between Design Patterns

The catalogue of design patterns from [Gamm94] contains about twenty design patterns and their mutual relationships. In this paper, we organize these relationships into different categories and revise the design patterns and their relationships. We are then able to arrange the design patterns in different layers. The results simplify the understanding of the overall structure of the catalogue, ...

on translation of phatic communion and socio-cultural relationships between the characters of the novels

phatic communion is a cultural concept which differs across cultures. according to hofstede (2001), the u.s. tends to have individualistic culture; however, asian countries tend to have collectivistic cultures. these cultures view phatic communion differently. in individualistic cultures like u.s., phatic communion reflects speakers’ socio-cultural relationships in conversations. to see whether...

Testing links between river patterns and in-channel characteristics using MRPP and ANOVA

This study tests the assumption that the characteristics of channels within multiple channel rivers are different from those of single channel rivers. Some river restoration approaches propose radical transformation of river patterns, from multiple to single channels, based on the link between river patterns and their in-channel characteristics. Determining the links between river patterns and ...
